Pranavi Chandra Velagapudi became the first Hyderabadi cricketer to be selected for the Caribbean Premier League
Hyderabad-based female cricketer Pranavi Chandra Velagapudi has been selected in the Women's Caribbean Premier League (CPL) tournament to be held in the West Indies from August 22 to 30. Pranavi Chandra was selected to play for the host Trin Bago Knight Riders.
Pranavi became the first Hyderabadi cricketer selected for the Caribbean Premier League. 22 year old Pranavi is a right-handed off-break bowler-cum-middle-order batsman. She has not played for the Indian national team so far. Along with the Hyderabad team, Pranavi also represented the South Zone team . An aggressive top-order batsman, Pranavi's impressive strike rates in domestic T20s as well as ODIs played a key role in getting selected for the league to be held at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarauba, Trinidad. There are three Indians in the Trinidad and Tobogo team in the league. Among them are Jemia Rodrigues, Shikha Pandey and Pranavi Chandra.
