Dr.G.Nachiyar, (Native of Ayan Vadamalapuram - Thottukudi dist/ Tamilnadu) one of the founding members of world renowned Aravind Eye Hospital in Madurai, was conferred the Padma Shri Award for her distinguished contributions and service in the field of medicine.
The list of Padma Awrads 2024 was announced by the Union Government on January 25th 2024 on the eve of Republic Day. She had played a significant role as a visionary ophthalmologist for more than five decades and gave transformational leadership at Aravind Eye Care System in Madurai.
She also headed the community outreach programme of the Aravind group.
